SJTFD responds to Barn FirePosted By Jim Berger on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 14:37

SJTFD responded to assist Northeast Fire and EMS on a reported Barn fire early this morning.   Fire 71 and 73 were first on the scene to find a barn fully involved with exposure problems.   Engine 142 arrived and layed a 5'' line up the driveway.  Engine 71 set up to draft from dump tanks.   A North Tanker Response was requested by Fire 71 while enroute as a large glow was visible from 3-4 miles away.   Approx 64,000 gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire and only the siding of an exposure building was damaged.  Cause was determined to be a child playing with a candle earlier in the evening.   Fire was reported at 0018 and all units cleared by 0430.

Baskin-Robbins 31 Cent Scoop NightPosted By Jim Berger on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 12:34

What a night -  Truck 77, Rescue 78 along with the BE SAFE Trailer had a constant line of people, not to mention the long line waiting for a 31 cent ice cream cone.  The Girls who work at Baskin-Robbinns were very patient with the firefighters who came in to assist with the ice cream dipping.  At times we felt like Donald Trump was going to walk in and say "You're Fired".

Come out to Baskin-Robbins in Northcrest Shopping Center for 31 cent Ice Cream Scoops and help raise money for the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC). Each year Baskin-Robbins make a $100,000 donation to the NVFC National Junior Firefighter Program.  We will have our Fire Safety Trailer available along with the K-9 Serach and Rescue Team.  Fire Trucks will also be on display for children to look over.
